Bavadil the Blue

Level 5

Bavadil the Blue is a mischievous creature that uses his illusory magics to his advantage, throwing those that hunt him off of his scent. He is cunning, charismatic, and confusing to face off against. His fighting tactics are questionable, and his speech even more so.

Bavadil is intended as a social encounter that can escalate to a fight.
Bavadil is a disorienting fight - he uses his illusory magic to confuse and astound his enemies while he slowly picks away at them. He will maintain his distance while pecking away at the enemy with his longbow. Should any enemies get near, he will attempt to disengage as fast as possible.
His main ability, "We Are Many" is meant to be a bit of a guessing game. "Let's see how much damage we can deal before they find the real me". He needs some time to recharge after using this, so roleplay him a bit exhausted once they have found him, regaining his strength each turn.

Bavadil is a cheeky fellow. He says what he thinks but will do it in a way so as to not allow the conversational partner to realize he just outright insulted them. He'll talk his way into someone letting him stay in their house, talk people out of their belongings, and talk people into their beds. He's been forced to leave many a town due to the last part.

He doesn't seem to have many goals, he acts impulsively, and he does what he wants to when he wants to.

No one really knows where Bavadil came from, or where he's going. he shows up randomly, leaves randomly, and isn't even a blue tiger half of the time. Where does he come from in your game?

The right music helps set the tone amazingly. There are really two stages to this encounter - the roleplay and the fight.

During the roleplay, something something cheeky and guard lowering is solid. For hyper charismatic, yet slightly scummy people, I like to use The Troll Shop Theme from Gwent: A Witcher Card Game. It's very disarming, and puts the listener at ease a bit given the slightly goofy nature. Or, hey, if you want to play him as more of an outright scumbag, Snake Soul from Pyre is an amazing option.

During the fight portion, something a little chaotic and mysterious is what we should shoot for. I've found this version of Eldain's Theme from Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales to be quite good for this mood. It has just enough intensity to hit the fight mark well, while still reminding that this is a tricky creature.
