Hunter Efritus is a mostly social encounter, that will potentially lead to some combat due to the nature of it. Efritus does not speak the common tongue, and has a hard time communicating with the village folk nearby, but she desperately is trying to warn them of an imminent threat.
Efritus is very passionate, and will get frustrated easily. Despite this she doesn't actually wish to harm anyone. She just does not understand the culture of the humanoids she is coming across, and needs to figure out a way to communicate with them.
Her only goal is to warn the people of the imminent threat, and the threat to their livelihood. She will attempt to get the people to evacuate if she cannot figure out a way to communicate. Which, of course, will be seen as a threat by the village.
- First, she'll approach any villagers that venture into the forest. If they're unable to understand her, she starts taking more drastic approaches.
- She will kidnap a few and keep them hostage - ensuring they are well fed, have water, and plenty of room to move. She'll use this time to draw things in the dirt, use props as tools to convey her point, and otherwise try and force translations through.
- Finally, if this method fails, she'll begin assaulting the town and making it hard to live there in the hopes that with enough pressure, they'll leave.
To her knowledge, her betrayals remain hidden, and she continues to venture out in attempt to save those who need it.
The right music helps set the tone amazingly. There are really two stages to this encounter - the roleplay and the fight.
During the roleplay, something mysterious with a more tribal sound to it will hit the mark. They do not know immediately how to communicate with this elf, and thus cannot get an immediate read on her. The music should reflect that. Ysgith from Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales conveys this pretty damn well.
