Clikke

Level 9

Clikke is a purely combat encounter - a vicious creature that lures its foes in then pounces once nearby. Known as a "gathgan", the insectoid creatures are a staple of the Huntmaster's battalion. They're ruthless and effective, appearing the wake of his approach to "thin the herd" as it were. Clikke is his favorite of his gathgan, having been around for as long as written language dictates.

Clikke will always begin submerged. Either the players know about this trick and will be ready for him, knowing what they should be looking for...or they don't. The spores released by the gathgan are alluring, charming in nature, when they have their face extended. Any unsuspecting creature will be hungry, and have an intense desire to rush towards the smell. If one reaches the gathgan, it will unveil itself, using it's intense stinger to paralyze it's prey.
During the full combat, the creature is naught more than a savage beast. It will attack what is nearby quickly and efficiently. If it paralyzes a creature with its stinger, and there are additional threats nearby, it will move to the next target. If there are none, it will rip into the paralyzed prey, consuming all it needs.

Clikke is a very simple creature to RP - it operates on instinct alone. Wait, lure, kill, eat. It will recognize when it cannot win a fight and try to run away, but will only do so if the odds appear stacked against it.

The gathgan have been a part of the Mov'ari tribe since the tribe's inception. Some view the creatures as companions, using their gathgan to assist in hunting. They scare the prey, sending it towards the insectoid lying in wait, which paralyzes and kills the prey. A gathgan can be tamed, and Clikke has been tamed by none other than Quentillion himself.
Anatomically, the gathgan are quite interesting. Most of their body is covered by a hard carapace, save their face. The face is a rubbery, organic matter, which can extend or compress against their skull. Visibly, it appears to be a fungal growth of some kind, and when extended the organic matter emits the luring spell. Also inducing a deep hunger, the creature rushes towards the scent to feast as fast as it can.

The right music helps set the tone amazingly. There are no options other than a fight here, really. Even if a player could tame a gathgan, Clikke is loyal to Quentillion.

During the fight portion, something wild sounding but chaotic will do the trick. The Hunt Begins from The Witcher 3 is a solid option for this.
