Sir Yust, The Fallen

Level 15

 Overview

Sir Yust was created with the intent to be a nugget that the players can come back to later. It is a high level encounter, and features a fallen paladin. While he once fought for righteousness, he now unwillingly serves his lich master, Aetrol, who took control of Yust's body in his death throes.

Fight Synopsis

This is a bit of a complex fight - there's two main opponents and adds that will be summoned periodically. Sir Yust is the main target - a hard hitting, hard to hit paladin who has some unholy abilities. While players are focused on him, Aetrol will be constantly controlling the fight in any way he can from the safety of Yust's belt.

An extremely easy way to set the pacing for this fight is to summon more or lay off of summoning the Ghasts. With how the action economy works, it is very easy to imbalance a fight with more enemies, so be super careful with summons.

Another good way to set the pacing is to use Aetrol to his fullest. Aetrol has almost exclusively utility abilities - use them to elongate the fight by healing Sir Yust with Life Tap, blocking enemies off from one another with Ice Barrier, or controlling the battlefield with his Ice Storm.

Personality

Sir Yust is very aware of the things he's doing but is unable to control his actions. What he can do is warn people. He can tell them to leave, warn them what he's capable of, and do everything he can with words to save people. Unfortunately, heroes are fools. More often than not his words fall on deaf ears, and the heroes fall to his blade. He's very apologetic the entire time he's fighting. Occasionally, Aetrol takes over his speech, and mocks the heroes who come to face him.

During the fight, Aetrol will have Sir Yust track down the closest target that is weak. Sir Yust will often ignore any and all enemies who seem hard to hit until last. The dangerous targets often are the easiest to kill as well.

Brief Lore

An old poem is known by most everyone who lives in the region. A poem of one of the bravest heroes to set foot on this earth.

"Sir Yust the bold
A knight of old
His achievements known far and wide
A man so stoic His deeds heroic
Lone light 'gainst the darkest tide

Round Aetrol the lich
The bodies do twitch
A heinous act, raising dead
Though once undisturbed
Their souls now perturbed
Ripping his foes to shreds

Sir Yust pursues
The horrific news
Of undead laying waste
Sir Yust catches sight
Of the lich in the night
Pursuing with reckless haste

Sir Yust the Bold
Once a knight of old
Now a puppet for evil deeds
His life void and null
While he carries lich skull
For even in death, Aetrol succeeds."

Sir Yust was a well renowned hero, who went after the biggest threat around - a heinous lich named Aetrol. In an epic battle, Sir Yust finally felled the undead foe. In his death throes, Aetrol managed to utter one final spell - taking possession of Sir Yust's body. Sir Yust didn't have the strength to fight it, and fell to the control of the lich.

Music

The right music helps set the tone amazingly. For this encounter, a track that is very serious and a bit dramatic will hit the right mark.  The Last Stand from Destiny's The Taken King expansion fills this role quite nicely.
